We launched the sailboat from the Don Armeni Boat Ramp, a very well located boat launch in the Alki Beach area near the northeastern tip of West Seattle. It is a bit protected from any open waves coming in out of Puget Sound, and has panoramic views of the Seattle city skyline. Just a minute out from the dock and the views open up to the entire Olympic Mountain range to the west, Mt Rainier to the south, and part of the Cascade Mountains to the east over Seattle. The facility also includes picnic areas, and is right along the waterfront walking path and “cruise strip” that turns into Seattle’s closest thing to Venice Beach on warm sunny days.
