The Green Festival rolled into Seattle, and was it ever crowded! Lots of interest, sometimes packed shoulder to shoulder walking down aisles. The food was a bit pricey and there was the usual array of feel-good trendy eco-consumerism rampant throughout, yet there were also interesting examples of home construction products, non-profit community-encouraging organizations, and some yummy free food samples (all organic and free trade of course…). The overall enthusiasm level was encouraging, and hopefully attendees will understand that buying something labeled eco-friendly is really just an incremental improvement over buying something less eco-friendly. The most eco-friendly thing would actually be to not buy that particular thing at all! Trendy behavior will hopefully lead to more deep rooted behavior in the future.
The organizers also managed to assemble a non-stop lineup of speakers across multiple stages, ongoing fun music by the food court, film showings, and more.
