Nooksack Falls is a nice stop-over on the road up to Artist Point in Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. It is easily accessed immediately from a parking lot, and offers several different viewpoints.

The area around the falls is remote from towns yet has a history of providing electrical power, mills, mines, and more. Historical interpretative signs are available onsite. The hunting scene from the the movie “The Deer Hunter” was filmed there, as well.

The falls cascade through a narrow gorge and then break off into two main channels as the water drops 88 feet to continue in the river below. The upper walking area is filled with builders, trees, and nearby places for kids to explore. Good place for a quick picnic, as well!
