Rattlesnake Ledge (also called Rattlesnake Ridge) is an understandably popular hiking destination near the town of North Bend, about a half hour drive east from Seattle. During summer months, there can be many people there with you, all taking in the pleasant steady forest hike and the views from the top of Rattlesnake Ledge’s cliff.

Starting from the parking lot near Rattlesnake Lake, the roundtrip hike is about 4.5 miles total over an 1160 foot elevation gain. When you reach the top, you may even be able to see a spec of your own car below. The entire route upwards is fairly steady and almost entirely forested along the way.

The trail briefly gets steeper toward the end as it ascends the rocky outcrop of Rattlesnake Ledge from the back side. Then suddenly the views open up… To the north is Mount Si, to the east are the Cascade Mountains, and directly below is Rattlesnake Lake. Beautiful views and a great place to rest with lunch. The trail continues further along to other locations and viewpoints as well.
