Monogram Lake is a pretty cirque lake that is a great spot for camping, trout fishing, and taking other side hikes (including one to the old fire lookout at Lookout Mountain). It is located between Lookout Mountain and Little Devil Peak in the North Cascades National Park, and is accessed near the town of Marblemount, starting from a trailhead along Cascade Creek Road positioned between Lookout Creek and Monogram Creek (outflow from the lake) in the Mount Baker – Snoqualmie National Forest. Be ready for a steep hike; it is steady going uphill with basically no level spots anywhere. The trailhead is at 1255 feet elevation, and the trails go continually upwards to 5400 feet, at which point you can see the lake and descend to it at 4873 feet. It’s about a 9+ mile round-trip hike. The deep forests, cascading streams, higher views across the Cascades, subalpine meadows, and privacy makes it a great place to camp and enjoy.
