ATV Riding At The Oregon Dunes, Pacific Ocean coast

Karen showing off her ability to get an ATV stuck in the sand at the Oregon Dunes. Not to be outdone, I of course got mine stuck 4 times. It was a lot of fun goofing on the dunes out there: driving around wherever, peeling donuts, jumping bumps, wheelying over drop-offs. The visibility was really strange: the bright light and homogeneous sand made it tough to get good depth perception, and I found out the hard way where some steep wind-whipped ledges seemingly appeared from out of nowhere. Recommended stuff.

Oregon Pacific Ocean Coast At Low Tide With Sea Stars, Starfish

We went exploring the coastal world that low tides reveal on the Oregon Coast. Here, Karen is checking out the clingy purple and orange starfish that are waiting for the water to come back, just as are the large barnacles on the rock face above.

Heceta Head Lighthouse View From Sea Lion Point

This is the view from Sea Lion Point near the Sea Lion Caves that we went into. The Heceta Head Lighthouse in on the leftmost rock promontory, and the Heceta Head Lighthouse B&B where we stayed overnight is located in the middle of the picture above the second nearer promontory (Devil’s Elbow). Gorgeous coastline, and a great romantic getaway location.

Sea Lion Point View From Heceta Head Lighthouse B&B Bed And Breakfast

Karen on the porch of Heceta Head Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast. This is looking back at Sea Lion Point, where the previous picture was taken. We enjoyed the view so much that we stayed out on the porch into the evening, under blankets reading books. The next morning, we were treated to the inn’s famous 7 course, 2 hour breakfast. Mmmm scrumptious!
