The Capilano Suspension Bridge Park of North Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada is a fun day getaway with a steadily expanding set of interesting attractions.
The park started with the Capilano Suspension Bridge itself, which was originally built in 1889 and upgraded over the years. It spans 450 feet across, 230 feet above the Capilano River in the canyon below. The entire bridge wiggles and sways with each step of yours and others. Views are pretty and it is fund to hang out while looking straight down over the edge.
On the other side of the bridge is the much newer Treetops Adventure. This attraction has an interconnected series of suspension bridges that traverse from one tree platform to the next. It feels like a big playground in the trees, and gives a new perspective on the forest itself.
The Cliffwalk is a a great addition as well. A one way metal structure has been affixed to the side of a cliff along the canyon, providing a different view of things from high up. The curved section is especially interesting, since it curves out into the air away from the cliff face and allows views down on both side, being truly suspended out in the air.
There are also many other smaller things to do, educational programs, and more. Worth a visit!
